"Come on (Name), the ice won't break, I promise." Matthew told you, beckoning you. He stood on the other side of the frozen lake. You were on the other, hesitating to cross. Though Matthew had glided across the lake with ease, you were still afraid. What if the ice cracked? What if you fell in? So many things could happen, and really, you wanted to live. Maybe you were exaggerating about the whole dying part, but this really made you scared.

Your thoughts were broken by the yelling from the Canadian across the lake. You looked up and gave a nervous smile, "Okay I'm coming. But if I fall, then I'm leaving." You told him, laughing a bit. "Don't worry, you won't." Matthew reassured you. Your legs shook as you took the first step onto the frozen surface, all your weight putting pressure on the ice. The ice had already weakened from Matthew going across, and the ice was not going to go easy on you.

A few more steps in, and you felt the ice shift below you, making you stop instantly. You were in the middle of the lake. "I think the ice is going to break!" You panicked, looking down at your feet. The ice was slowly cracking below you slowly. "(Name)! Run!" Matthew screamed, urging you to get out of there quickly. You obeyed and took another step, and now trying to take small baby steps.

   'Crack'

You looked down once more, watching as the ice split open below you. Your body soon sank below the surface, and you were now underwater. You could hear yells and screams, but the words were incoherent. The water was freezing, making it hard for you to move. You felt your lungs burn for air. You felt light headed, and your eyes began to slip shut. Before they could, you saw a figure swimming towards you from above.

Your eyes closed completely. The figure had grabbed your body and was now dragging you to the surface. Frantically they swam towards the opening in the frozen surface, trying to get you to safety. Finally, they reached the surface; and they climbed onto the frozen ice. Matthew panted and shook, holding you in his arms as he stood up. He walked over the surface as fast as he could, carrying you to land.

He reached land and then set you on the ground. A look of worry struck his face, "(Name)?" He said, shaking your shoulder. No response. Matthew knew just what to do at a time like this. He leaned down and used his two fingers to squeeze your nose shut. The other hand now held your mouth open. He pressed his lips against yours, and he breathed into you. And then pulling away to press at your chest, trying to get you to breath.

Matthew repeated this process for a few minutes. Then he heard a cough, and you sat up, coughing up the water in your lungs. They burned once more, but finally you had woken up. Once you stopped choking, you looked to Matthew, who smiled in joy to see you awake. "(Name)!" He exclaimed, embracing you. You hugged him back, feeling very cold and wanting some heat.

"Thank you Matthew." You said, pulling away and smiling. Matthew smiled back, and then abruptly picked you up princess style. "I need to get you warmed up (Name)." Matthew said, starting to walk back to his house in the woods. You clung to him, like a baby does to its mother. You were wet and cold, and so was Matthew, but he didn't show it. You looked up at Matthew, eyes half lidded; and you leaned up and kissed him on the cheek.

"Thank you Matthew." You said quietly, closing your eyes. While your eyes were closed, Matthew blushed, a smile on his face. He trudged up to the cabin, walking up the steps and opening the door with his hand. Quickly, he placed you on the floor, and went to the fireplace, trying to start a fire. You sat there, watching him light it up, and the light now growing larger.

"I'll go get some dry clothes and some blankets." Matthew told you, standing up and turning around, and then walking into the hallway. You heard shuffling as you watched the flames flicker, and the logs crackling. Matthew came back moments later, a pile of neatly folded clothes and blankets in hand. "Here." He said, handing you a blanket and some clothes. You took them and nodded as a silent thank you.

You took the clothes and turned your back to Matthew, who was changing as well. You took off your damp clothes and set them aside, and now putting on your dry ones. A pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt with some band you never heard of. You wrapped the blanket around you and turned around, where you then took a few steps and plopped down on the floor, by the fire. Matthew finished changing and then joined you, basking in the heat with you.

He was so close to you, that you could lean onto his shoulder, which you did seconds later. "Thank you Matthew." You repeated, watching the flames. "I'm really sorry (Name). I shouldn't have made you cross. I didn't know. I'm sorry." Matthew apologized, wrapping his arm around you in means to warm you up. There was silence for a few minutes, only the sound of wood snapping and crackling filling the room.

"I love you Matthew." You said absentmindedly, smiling with happiness. You then blushes, realizing what you just said. You sat up and looked at Matthew with wide eyes, scanning his face for any bad reactions. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to say that! I was just talking and I didn't know what else to say and-" You were shut up by the lips of the Canadian. Your wide eyes soon closed, as you felt a bit dizzy and fuzzy at the same time.

This whole moment seemed to be one that would be inside a cliche romance story. Sitting by a fire with your soon to be lover, as he shut you up with a warm and deep kiss. Full of love and passion. Soon, Matthew pulled away, smiling at your blushing face. Your eyes opened and you gave another nervous smile. "You talk to much sometimes." Matthew said, his sweet and quiet voice making you feel even fuzzier.

You wrapped you arms around him as you stared once more at the fire. "Do you love me too?" You asked quietly, feeling his head lean on yours. "Yes (Name). I love you a lot. I'm glad you are here with me right now." Matthew said, his words full of truth and love. The whole thing at the lake escaped your mind, all that filled your mind was Matthew now. Who knew this would end up this way? You certainly didn't at the moment.

You both started to kiss in front of the warm fire. After that, you both went to sleep in front of the fireplace, cuddling up in a blanket, holding each other close.

    -The End.
Canada, I really love him a lot. I must thank my sister for providing me with this plot. I'm sorry if isn't the best, but I know she will be happy to hear I wrote this.

Ever gone swimming in the ocean during the winter? I have, and I must say, its really fun. Well I'm Canadian, I guess I'm used to the cold? I'm not sure, but it didn't bother me, not even when I first jumped in.

Well enough about me, hope someone enjoys this. C:
