Ever since the 6th grade, you have had a rivalry with Arthur Kirkland. You two had always tried to be better than the other. In several ways, like cooking, sports, and other skills. Those antics continued on, for several years, and now you were both in high school. Surprisingly, you had come to love Arthur. Where did this sudden feeling for him even come from? Hormones maybe? You might never know, but all you knew was that you loved him, and wanted to be with him. You were pretty sure that Arthur would never like you, knowing you two were still in that whole rivalry thing.
"Hey (Name)." You heard Arthur's voice call from behind. You turn around quickly, smirking at him, "What do you want?" You said with some attitude. He smirked right back at you. "I have a dare for you." He said, chuckling afterwords. You smirk grows bigger, "I don't care what it is, I accept!" You exclaimed, crossing your arms in triumph. Arthur laughs, "I dare you to disguise yourself and flirt with your crush! And, you have to ask them to the dance that's coming up!" Arthur points his finger in your face, smirking deviously.
Your arms drop, and so does your heart. How could you do that?! Arthur was your crush! Did he know you liked him, and was now teasing you in this weird way? It certainly seemed like it. Your eyes widened, and your smirk turned into a frown. "No! I am not doing that!" You yelled, furrowing your eyebrows. "Oh, chicken are we? That's expected from someone like you, (Name)." Arthur snickered. "I'll do it, jeez!" You said, turning your back on him and walking away. This was going to be horrible.
After school the next day, you went to your best friend's house. You told her about your little problem. Good thing, your friend was good with make-up and clothes, so they knew how to make you look completely different. Almost two excruciating hours later, you looked like a new girl. Hair was a different color, new eye color from contacts, and your make-up made you look a bit preppy. You thank your friend and went home, and then becoming nervous about the next day.
When you got to school, you were bombarded with stares and questions. First things first though, find Arthur, and flirt with him. "So you're the new girl?" You heard a familiar voice from behind. You turn around cautiously, and then seeing it was Arthur. A smile flashed across your face, "Hi, and yeah, I'm new here!" You said in a cheery voice, trying to sound more girlish.
This was still so difficult, he could instantly recognize you at any moment, and you felt a bit awkward. "So what's your name?" Arthur asked, looking at you from head to toe. Oh man, a name! You didn't even come up with one yet! "My name is Lily..." You said, averting your eyes from his. When you looked back, a sincere smile was plastered onto his face, "Such a pretty name." He said, blushing slightly. "Did you know, that I'm related to a girl named (Name)." You said quickly. "Oh really? You seem nothing like her. But oh well, I like you a lot more than her." Arthur said, his smile returning.
After that, Arthur began to talk to you, hang out with you, and help you around school. He hadn't taken notice that it was actually you under all that get-up. Though, instead of you asking him to the dance, he did. It was surprising, Arthur usually never had the courage to even ask a girl out, he must have really fallen for you. Luckily for you, the dance was tomorrow night, and you would then be free from all this.
Before the dance, which was happening tonight, you went to your friends house. Who was the one who helped you with your disguise. They helped you out of the disguise, and then did your hair and make-up. After three hours, you were done, looking prettier than before. You took a look into the mirror, giving a nervous smile to your reflection. "I hope this goes well." You said to yourself quietly. You friend offered you a ride there, and you gladly accepted.
You had reached the school, where the dance was being held. You got out of the car and walked up to the school doors, and then entering the building. The music was loud and booming all around you. There, in the middle of the dancefloor, was Arthur. He wore a black suit, with a red tie. His hands were in his pockets, and his eyes were searching the room. He was probably looking for Lily.
You took a deep breath, and walked over to Arthur, and then catching his attention. He looked and you, "Have you seen Lily? You know, your relative?" Arthur said loudly, so that you could hear him over the music. You sighed silently, and looked up at him. "I am Lily. I was in a costume, all because of that dare you gave me." You said, tears in your eyes. Why were you crying? You might never know. Arthur's eyes went wide with realization, he was your crush. Him. Arthur Kirkland, was (Name's) crush.
"(N-Name)..I don't know what to say I-" Before Arthur could finish, you ran out of the room, tears streaming down your face. He watched as you left the room and took a turn down a hallway. "(Name)!" He called, but knowing you couldn't hear him. He ran after you, his heels making a sound with every step. He looked everywhere, but you were nowhere to be found. As he passed by a janitors closet, he heard a faint sob. He stopped instantly at the noise, and he turned his head, staring at the doorknob.
He reached out for the knob, grabbing it, and twisting. Swinging the door open, he saw you on the floor, your face in your hands. Arthur felt a surge of relief come over him, "(Name)!" He fell to his knees and hugged you. His presence and embrace startled you for a moment, but you then cried even harder. Arthur pulled away, looking at you with a worried face. "(Name) I, I didn't know. I thought you loved someone else! I never thought..." Arthur didn't continue, not wanting to risk of hurting you more with his words.
You looked up at him, your cheeks red and shining from the recent tears. "You thought what..?" You said, sniffling a bit. You saw as Arthur's cheeks redened, and his eyes avert yours. "..." Arthur didn't respond. He then buried his face in his hands, and a blush consumed his cheeks and neck. You looked down, fiddling with your thumbs, waiting for him to say something. When he didn't, you decided to do it yourself.
Before you could say anything, a hand was put into your view. Arthur's hand. You looked up and saw him blushing, but his sincere smile was back. "Do you want to dance with me? I want to make you feel better." He said, extending his hand a bit more. You hesitantly take his hand, and he pulls you up quickly. With one swift move, his hands are on your waist, and your arms are around his neck.
The good thing was, you both could still hear the loud music from the other room. So you both didn't dance in silence. You looked at the floor from the side, "Do you hate me Arthur?" You asked, the sadness showing in your voice. "No." Arthur said sternly. You looked up at him, and before you could even say something, his lips crashed against yours. "Mphm..." You said in shock. Arthur was kissing you.
He pulled away before you could really start to enjoy the kiss, "I love you, (Name). Don't ever think I hate you. Okay?" Arthur said, smiling. You pulled him into a hug, wrapping your arms around his waist this time. Arthur put his head on your shoulder, "You know, I knew it was you the whole time." He said in a whisper, a small chuckle shortly after. You smiled as your eyes closed, "Yeah, I didn't think you would anyways."
